Sparring TV announcers won’t return to Tigers’ booth in 2019

Two longtime Detroit Tigers television announcers who were suspended near the end of the 2018 season will not be retained, according to a report.Mario Impemba and Rod Allen have called more than 2,000 games together, but the Detroit Free Press reported Tuesday night that Fox Sports Detroit has informed Impemba’s representatives that he won’t return in 2019. Allen had a one-year deal in 2018 with a network option for 2019, and his representatives are negotiating a settlement.Neither the team nor the network would comment.Impemba earned more than $500,000 per year and Allen about $350,000, according to the newspaper. The two had worked together on Tigers broadcasts since 2003.
